1. Who we are

OhioLicenseCheck.com is operated by Covenant Media LLC, an independent software company based in Columbus, Ohio. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the State of Ohio or any Ohio licensing board. Reach a real person through our contact page.

2. Information you give us

• Email address — to send licence expiry alerts and verification codes
• Phone number — optional, and only used if you specifically choose SMS alerts
• Business name — for business and API accounts
• Licences you ask us to monitor — licence number, board, and type
• Messages you send us — anything you type into our contact form

We do not collect payment card details, Social Security numbers, or health information. You can use the licence search, exam-attempts tool, and every article on this site without giving us anything at all.

3. Information we collect automatically

When you run a search, we record the search itself — including your IP address, browser user-agent, referring page, and the search terms — in a server log. We are telling you this plainly because it is the item most people would not assume.

We use those logs only to:

• Detect and block abuse, scraping, and denial-of-service traffic
• Enforce rate limits fairly
• Understand which features are used so we know what to improve
• Produce aggregate, non-identifying usage counts

We do not build advertising or marketing profiles from search logs, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to identify who looked up whom. Logs are retained for a limited operational period and then discarded.

4. How we use your information

• To send the licence expiry notifications you signed up for
• To verify your email or phone with a one-time code
• To operate API accounts and apply rate limits
• To answer messages you send us
• To keep the service secure and working

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not send marketing email. If you signed up for expiry alerts, expiry alerts are what you get.

5. Licence data and public records

The licence records on this site come from the State of Ohio's official eLicence dataset published on data.ohio.gov, refreshed daily. Professional licence status is public record in Ohio. We do not create, edit, score, or interpret an individual's licence record — we display what the issuing board published.

Our research reports in Insights are aggregate statistics computed from that same dataset. They describe populations, not individuals, and we do not publish personal details in them.

If you believe a record about you is wrong, the correction has to come from the issuing board, because we mirror their file. Contact us and we will tell you exactly which board to approach and re-check once the state file updates.

6. Advertising and cookies

This site is free, and advertising is part of how we pay for it. We use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, and in some cases to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies via aboutads.info/choices.
• Google's own handling of data is described in its partner-sites policy.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

We never pass your search terms, the names you look up, or your contact details to an advertiser, and we never use them to target advertising. We also do not sell ad placements inside a person's licence record, and we do not allow advertising to influence how a record is displayed or what we write. Google's automatic ad placement may still position an ad elsewhere on a page that contains a record; where that happens it is placed by Google's system without reference to the record shown.

7. Alerts, SMS, and email

By verifying an email address or phone number you consent to receive licence expiry notifications from OhioLicenseCheck.com. Alert frequency depends on the schedule you choose (we offer 60, 30, 14, 7, and 1 day before expiry). Standard message and data rates may apply to SMS.

You can stop at any time by:

• Replying STOP to any SMS
• Using the unsubscribe link in any email
• Visiting our opt-out page
• Managing individual subscriptions at /manage

8. Your choices and rights

• Access — ask us what we hold about you
• Correction — fix your contact details at any time
• Deletion — ask us to delete your account and alert subscriptions
• Opt out — unsubscribe from alerts without deleting anything else
• Advertising — opt out of personalised ads using the links in section 6

We honour these requests regardless of where you live. Note that we cannot delete a public licence record from the State of Ohio's dataset — that is the state's record, not ours.

9. Data retention and security

Contact details and subscriptions are kept while your alerts are active; when you unsubscribe or ask for removal, we deactivate and then delete them. Everything is served over HTTPS/TLS, data is stored on access-controlled servers, and API keys are hashed rather than stored in readable form. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we keep little enough that there is not much to lose.

• Google reCAPTCHA — abuse prevention on forms, subject to Google's privacy policy

11. Children

This service is intended for professionals, employers, and the general public verifying licences. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

12. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. Material changes to how we handle personal information will also be noted on the site.
