1. Who provides this service

OhioLicenseCheck.com is operated by Covenant Media LLC (“we”), an independent company based in Columbus, Ohio. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the State of Ohio, the Ohio eLicense system, or any Ohio licensing board. By using the site you agree to these terms; if you do not agree, please do not use it.

2. What the service includes

• Licence lookup for individuals and businesses across Ohio's 24 licensing boards
• Expiry alerts by email and optional SMS
• Exam-attempts lookup, derived from Ohio's published application records
• Research reports in Insights and guides in Articles
• A free developer API and MCP endpoint

Features are provided free of charge and may change or be discontinued. The site is supported by advertising.

3. Accuracy, and what this is not

Licence data comes from the State of Ohio's official published dataset and is refreshed daily. We do not edit or interpret individual records. Even so, we make no warranty as to completeness, accuracy, or timeliness — a renewal or board action filed in the last few hours may not have reached the published file yet.

For hiring, credentialing, legal, disciplinary, or any other consequential decision, verify directly with the issuing Ohio board. This site is not a consumer report and is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Do not use it as a substitute for a background check or for any purpose regulated by the FCRA.

4. The exam-attempts tool specifically

Our exam-attempts feature counts licence applications that did not result in a licence, which approximates how many attempts someone made. It is an approximation, not an official exam record. An unsuccessful application can reflect an incomplete or withdrawn file rather than a failed exam. Do not treat it as proof that a named individual failed an examination, and do not use it to make employment decisions about a person.

5. Acceptable use

This site displays information about real people. You agree not to:

• Harass, stalk, intimidate, defame, or threaten anyone using information found here
• Use the site for any FCRA-regulated purpose, or to make employment, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
• Bulk-scrape, mirror, or systematically download the site outside the documented API
• Attempt to overload, probe, or circumvent rate limits or security controls
• Misrepresent the data, including presenting an approximation as an official record
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

We may suspend access for any of the above.

6. Alerts are a courtesy, not a guarantee

Alerts are generated from our daily refresh and sent on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee delivery of any particular message, and email or SMS can be delayed or filtered beyond our control. Keeping a licence current is the licence holder's responsibility, whether or not a reminder arrived.

7. API terms

API access is free, rate limited, and issued per account. You agree not to:

• Share, resell, or redistribute your API key or the raw data feed
• Rebuild a substantially similar public licence-lookup service from our API without written permission
• Exceed published rate limits or evade them with multiple keys
• Cache results in a way that presents stale data as current

We may change limits or revoke a key that is harming the service. Keep your key secret; you are responsible for traffic sent with it.

8. Our content

The underlying licence records are public data from the State of Ohio and we claim no ownership of them. Our original written guides, research reports, analysis, and site design are our copyrighted work. You are welcome to quote a short excerpt or cite a statistic with clear attribution and a link to the source page; republishing reports wholesale is not permitted.

9. Advertising

The site displays third-party advertising, which funds free access. Advertisements are selected by the ad network, not endorsed by us, and never influence our written content or how a licence record is displayed. See our Privacy Policy for cookie and opt-out details.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Covenant Media LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including missed renewal deadlines, licence lapses, lost employment, or reliance on inaccurate or outdated data.

11. Corrections and takedown

If a record here is inaccurate, it almost certainly means the state's published record is inaccurate, and the correction has to be made with the issuing board — we mirror their file. Tell us anyway: we will point you to the right board and re-check once the state updates. For copyright or other legal notices, use our contact page.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

13. Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top always reflects the current version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
